As members of the American Montessori Society, our educational and activities program incorporates elements of Montessori philosophy and principles, supported by a number of our Montessori qualified teaching and management staff, in class resources and a dedicated Montessori Area equipped with specialised Montessori equipment, resources and specific Montessori activities guides and manuals.

Our equipment in the Montessori area has been selected to cover the six main areas of learning:

• CLL – Communication Language and Literacy
• PSE – Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• PSRN – Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• KUW – Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• PD – Physical Development
• CD – Creative Development

 Our Montessori Area has been devised and arranged so each child feels free to learn at their own pace with a small group of children and their class teacher. The specialist pieces of equipment are all self correcting which enables children to work independently and to see for themselves when something is not working out, they can make the corrections themselves, giving them a sense of achievement and accomplishment. The center offers engaging and effective activities that incorporate English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Music.

What is Montessori?

 Maria Montessori was one of the most important early years educators of the 20th century, her classroom practices and ideas have had a profound influence on the education of young children all over the world. The Montessori approach is holistic and aims to develop the whole child. Fundamental to the approach is the belief that a child’s early years from birth to six is the period when they have the greatest capacity to learn. One of Maria Montessori’s main principles is that a young child learns through sensory motor activity, “by doing”. The method also places emphasis on the five senses, and not just through listening, watching and reading.
